I gave the man a monkey,
just a cheap-ass child's toy.
He smiled when he got it,
just like a little boy.
He loved that evil monkey
and he threw it at the aides.
They didn't know what they were doing,
they're all paid the lowest wage.
He didn't fear the dying
He just didn't want the tears
It's hard enough in going
without someone else's fears.
His mother told him stories
as he considered his sad lot.
She helped him find the courage
to let his sad heart stop.
He held that stupid monkey
and it was all that I could do.
There was nothing I could tell him,
I'm just sorry that it's you.
