Don't Take the Train

When you take the train from Beantown to The City
you'll see two people on each side of every row.
Every single quiet drone has got his laptop
and they're lost in silly dreams that no-one knows.

In time a few might fly out to the Islands
They'll see those happy people laughing on the beach
But they'll go there with their laptops and their cellphones
and the joy will be always out of reach.

Where you are is where you aren't,
where you'll be is always gone,
and there's no chance your little toys
will take you to your home.

Here above or down below
is always just the same
but one without the other
is a hopeless, shallow game.

Look up to the eyes of a stranger in your life
and you'll find the simple thing you've always known.
If you could just lift your eyes to the beauty
You'll find it's everywhere you'll ever choose to roam.
